The newest old idea in safety

Help shouldn't need an app.

A KinTag is a small, free, no-battery tag anyone can tap to instantly see who you are and who to call. Just a way back to the people who matter.

A tracker tells you where a thing is. A KinTag helps a person get home.

No app
Any phone can tap it. Nothing to download.
No battery
It never dies, never charges, never expires.
No tracking
It can't follow anyone. It only helps when tapped.

Our approach

The best safety net is the one people already recognize.

A KinTag only helps if a stranger knows what to do when they find one. So we don't hide them away for emergencies — we put them where people gather, until the tap becomes second nature long before anyone needs it.

Familiar is what makes it safe. That's the whole idea.

Thom and family — the moment that started Next to Kin

Our story

It started the day I lost sight of my son at a Riders game.

For a few minutes in a stadium of thousands, I didn't know where he was — and he couldn't have told anyone how to find me. That feeling never left. KinTags are the answer I wished I'd had in my hand that day.

We're a Métis-owned, family-run team from Regina. This isn't a tech company chasing a market. It's a dad who wanted a simpler way back.

— Thom, founder of Next to Kin

Why we really built this

An event tag is how you meet a KinTag. It's not why they exist.

KinTags were built for the people who need them most — those living with dementia, memory loss, or cognitive decline, who may know they need help but can't always say who they are or who to call.

The crowds are how the idea spreads. The dignity is the point.

“People will always need other people.”
